I was a Stroh Light man (boy) in my youth. I think a twelve pack was $4.99. And, it held the panache of being imported.

Lucky Lager: 12 pack prior to Kingfish; each cap had a puzzle. $2, and it came in a handy 12 pack box. Small, brown bottles...1975.

Beer was beer.

lionshead does the same thing. they used to make them somewhat challenging, but in recent years they started making the puzzles easier. this is how easy they are now:

i suppose if you drink enough, they are more challenging.

When I was in high school we drove by a package store that had a card board sign that said "red white and blue beer/1.50 a six pack." We had to give it a shot. Worst ting I ever tasted.

Hey now! RW&B was my go to beer for a couple of years.

It might've been swill, but it'd buzz ya and it was CHEAP.

As I have matured, so has my palate. And I really don't drink for the buzz anymore either.
